Assembly test of parts

Fidel sent me the first parts he has designed so I could check and test them. These parts are designed to be assembled with solid conical rivets, 2mm diameter, and it was my first time, previously y had worked with normal pop rivets. First I had to bend the formers at 8mm from the edge. This a manual process that requires some practice but not difficult. Different plyers had to be used to get the correct shape. The holes in the formers and the skin, had to be shaped to a conical profile, using a small metal rod with a 60ยบ cone Finally the moment of truth, fixing the solid aluminum rivet Overall, the result was very nice, and gives a nice view of what the Blanik may look like if we manage together to get this project working. Hope this images encourages people to join.

Support from German magazine FMT Flugmodell und Technik

The German magazine FMT in its November 2021 issue, has given support to the project, publishing a text with photo about the idea of the group we are making, so all of their readers will be aware.   FMT is a leading German magazine and I am so glad they liked the idea and supported the project. THANKS!!!

New test parts

People are asking they would like to see some finished parts, to verify the level of quality and detail the final model should have, so Mr Fidel has sent me some more photos on test parts he has been designing and cutting.    The first step if sourcing information and images of the parts, and then spend many hours with the computer and CAD program, to trace each part. Then more hours, verifying the parts will match each other. Once he is satisfied, he will cut them in 0,3 aluminum with a CNC router to get maximum precision. Then he will fold and bend parts to final shape. Final parts will be mostly bent and folded with jigs and folding machine.

Mr Fidel has been working these days in making some trial pannels with all the detailed rivets, and has build a firt test for the tail Hope you like the images!!!

The intention of this blog, if making an easy way for people to join a group of interested buyers for a high end all metal scale of a Blanik L13 or L23 model glider.   I have been in contact for long time with Mr Fidel Rama, master designer and builder of full metal scale planes, all made out of very thin (about 0,30mm lithography aluminum) and tiny rivets. He is as far as I know, the only designer and builder worldwide of metal planes. Others make metal planes for themselves, but not commercially   So far, Mr Fidel under the brand name Alumodels ( www.alumodels.com ), has made many different models, ranging from 2 to 4m wingspan, always petrol powered. Overtime, the precision and detail of this panels and creation has become astonishing. Most of this models are ARTF or RTF   He has never made a sailplane, and I have been encouraging him to do so for some time. He said that problem with sailplanes is weigh (normal), and that even thinner sheet has to be...
